Workshop for Chas Challenge

UX, Accessibility & Real User Behavior

Chas Academy - August 2026

An eye-opening lecture about UX in practice, from mindset and ways of working to accessibility, user needs, AI and business value.
Concluded with a workshop using the student portal.

"Good UX is invisible. Bad UX is noticed immediately."

Covered topics

We explored what UX is really about, how we work in a sustainable UX process, and why accessibility is a natural part of good design.

We discussed mental models, the difference between features and actual user needs, and how AI can enhance UX, not replace human perspectives.

The lecture concluded with a workshop where students explored the student portal, identified problems and formulated hypotheses. The goal was to understand the problem before proposing solutions.

“We had high expectations, but Emma still managed to exceed them.”

Well-planned, relaxed, thoughtfully adapted to the audience, and pedagogically delivered from start to finish.

Key takeaways

Understand before you design

Good UX starts with understanding people, their goals and their context. We talked about how UX and UI work together to create the complete experience, and why jumping straight into the interface can mean solving the wrong problem.

Design for real needs

A feature is only valuable if it solves a real need. We explored how to look beyond requested features and uncover what users actually need, turning assumptions into insights and insights into better solutions.

Workshop- The student Portal

Students explored the student portal, challenged their assumptions and identified potential problems. Through research and discussion, they formulated hypotheses before thinking about solutions, putting the UX process into practice.

For the future

A UX perspective is crucial whether you become a developer, product owner or work as part of a cross-functional team.

When you understand people, technology and the business, you can help create products that are actually useful and create real value.

By embracing UX, including accessibility, and collaborating across disciplines, you can build solutions that are usable, sustainable and valuable for both people and businesses.
